The heart shape is a widely recognized ideograph that represents our strong emotion of love. Shabby-chic home decor inspired this fiber art door hanger or ornament that can be displayed as a visual reminder of love and family. The piece makes use of fabric remnants that would have been headed for a landfill. Instead, they are stitched then stuffed to make a small, soft home accent. Layers of embellishment were added by stitching an applique flower adorned with hand beading, bits of tulle and an orange produce bag. There are also hand-embroidered accents. The sari silk ribbon used for the hanger is another recyled product from the fashion industry.
